Insight allows us to make empowered choices

My approach to counseling is that it's a collaborative partnership, as I believe that transformation is rooted in relationship. It's important to me that the time we spend engaging your goals and reasons for seeking therapy together are in a safe and trusting environment.

One of my goals is to help you grow in your ability to reflect. Self-reflection is an important component of developing awareness, growth, and change. I believe that all people deserve physical, emotional, and spiritual health, and that it is through engaging one’s own story that they can identify themes and patterns from the past, and then choose to respond differently in the future.

People are not static, and I believe that change occurs through engaging our stories in relationship. It's my hope that our therapeutic relationship will allow us to co-create skills and insight that allow you to not only make empowered choices, but also new stories of courage and healing.

As a therapist I'm client centered, trauma-informed, and strength based. I look to utilize therapies that will allow you to address your specific goals, and needs. This may look like helping you understand more about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, or helping you build coping skills for anxiety or depression. If you have experienced trauma, many people have found talk therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to be helpful. If you are an artist, musician, writer, or dancer, then Expressive Arts Therapy, and Narrative Therapy may interest you.  My goal  is to use the therapies that best address your goals, and highlight the strengths that you already possess.

The body always leads us home . . . if we can simply learn to trust sensation and stay with it long enough for it to reveal appropriate action, movement, insight, or feeling.
